LESSON #10: Set up a bid board

After months of progress towards your tender submission deadline, the last few weeks can be the most exciting and stressful.

To reduce the disorganisation that inevitably creeps up on you and your team, (no matter how organised you are at the start) we suggest you create a bid board.

The bid board is a visual tracking system for all documents that need to be submitted as part of the bid. It is usually placed within a central location that is accessible to the whole team, so everyone can gather around and update each other on the progress of documents and tackle any issues. It can be set up on a wall a or a white board and in recent times we have researched and tested software options for electronic bid boards to allow remote teams to work together in the final push towards submission.

Once your milestones and sponsor sign-off members have been allocated (see Lesson 7) bid boards are a terrific tool to set up within the office to monitor the progress of documents and keep the team on track and motivated to submit a winning submission.
